Soumendra Jena

Serial Entrepreneur & Creator

The Hasselblad X2D II 100C launched on August 26, and from that very day I’d been chasing it like a dream. I have tried it from every part of the world - USA, Europe, Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai, Malaysia, etc - but its sold out everywhere and only possible option is to pre-order and wait for it.

Even in Dubai—where premium gear usually lands fast—every dealer had the same answer: pre-order now, wait at least a month. I’m not built for that kind of waiting when creativity’s buzzing, so I did the only logical thing a camera nerd would do…

The Hong Kong Gamble ✈️

I booked tickets to Hong Kong to try my luck. After pinballing across the city from store to store, I racked up almost $400–$500 just in Uber bills. It felt insane—until it didn’t.

A longtime friend in China (and former client) came through like a legend. With his help, I finally secured the Hasselblad X2D II 100C with the XCD 55mm—and just like that, months of waiting ended with one perfect box in my hands.

Some photos of my visit to DJI Hasselblad Store in Hongkong.

I also did shoot the whole process as a vlog, you may watch it here!

First Impressions: The Addictive Hasselblad Look 🎨

I’ve already posted the unboxing video on YouTube (link below), but here’s the headline: Hasselblad’s color science is dangerously addictive.

These frames in the below video are SOOC (straight out of camera)—no edits, no presets, nothing. The files feel pure, soothing, and effortlessly beautiful, with tones that make you want to photograph literally everything in sight. Skin, skies, shadows—everything renders with a calm, cinematic grace that’s hard to describe and even harder to put down.

Why This Camera Was Worth the Chase

• Medium-format magic in a body that’s actually fun to carry

• Colors that feel finished before you even think of editing

• Dynamic range that rescues highlights and shadows with ease

• XCD 55mm rendering that’s crisp yet gentle, with a natural falloff

What’s Next

This is just the start. I’ll be posting more field tests, city walks, travel frames, and full galleries from the X2D II 100C + XCD 55mm.

Follow me on Instagram @soamjena—I’ll be sharing a ton of shots from this setup.
