ABOUT ME

I'm Soumendra Jena, a 21-year-old man reaching high to achieve my goals and fulfill me dreams. At a young age, I've experienced a great deal of life. I enjoy wearing a gold earring on my left ear. When I was in Bangalore for my brother's wedding, an artist who was trained in Russia designed a tribal tattoo using the SHANKH which is now on my left shoulder. SHANKH is a synonym for Conch shell. Since the mythological past, it has remained an integral part of Hindu socio-religious ethos. It symbolises the cosmic space of which the attribute is sabda or sound. You may see both my earring and tattoo in my Pics Section. Friends used to call me, "First Guy  To ...." I was the "first guy" in my community to find my true love; the "first guy" to drive and own his car; the "first guy" to have his own bungalow, the "first guy" to have his own company, the "first guy" to fly and win his dreams. I don't believe to be overstating here, but all this is true! My parents wanted me to continue with studies only, but my professional reflection was more than my studies and I launched my business instead. I run a Web & Software Development Company, with vast domain experience. I have 3 sisters, a friendly and cool brother-in-law and my parents round out my family. There isn't enough room here to list everyone. You would be scrolling down forever,if I did that.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

In 2007 I was provided the opportunity to work as a PHP Debugger for a small firm. You might say this was an internship as they allowed me to learn under their oversight. As time went by, I was offered various roles in various companies - ranging from Web Developer, Project Manager, QA, System Analyst, IT Solutions, Application Testing. This all led to where I am today - a successful entrepreneur. It hasn't been easy, however. I haven't wasted any time reaching for my dreams. Each achievment has come with great effort.  My days now need two extra hands and five more hours. People say, "You were brought up with computers." That's not true. Yes, I was exposed to computers in school, but at the time I didn't find much interest in them. I was more into the mobile world of cell phones. I succeeded in developing Symbian Plugins and editing. Today I work on a Vista machine with 24 display and a iMAC 30 Cinema Display as a Virtual  machine. This "Virtual" arrangment will end in Septemeber as my new office will be complete. I have worked for clients like CESI, Inc, BITSMAG, Experience Advertising, Inc, Cybloid LLC, Big Picture Media Group, Inc., DesignB Studios, Studio9, SkySoft Inc., AK Digital, a Web,etc. I obtained my first job in November 2007 at Salient Point, Inc. I worked remotely from India and dealt with their clients. But after I gained experience, I starting planning the launch of my own venture. June 2008 I quit my job. I then became an OS partner for the same company. Later I worked for United Kingdom-based A Web Enterprises. I still do some consulting for them. Most companies use my services for IT solutions and software development. September 2008 I started my own ,QubeSys Web Solutions.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

In 2004 I completed Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) from Pragati Public School in Rourkela. with a  90.0%  grade point average. In 2006 I completed the Indian School Certificate (ISC) from St. Paul's School also in Rourkela, but my grades dropped to 74.8%. As it would be, I found myself tired and sleeping during the exams because I was spending most nights  working on a NetFront software browser for Symbian. Once I survived ISC, I entered Aeronautical Engineering. This was probably the most difficult course work I've experienced. While I am still registered, I've postponed my course of study to pursue my buiness desires.

SOAM & HIS LOVE

I am in a relationship with my second grade (Std.2) sweatheart. Monali, who also attended Pragati Public School, was the "apple of my eye" before I even knew what "love" was. For sixteen years now, our love for one another has grown  and developed into a very meaningful and "eternal" partnership. Our relationship has served as a good example for many of my friends. Other than my work and my family, there is nothing more important. Well, we are getting married next year (most probably).

SOAM & CARS

When I was born my father drove an Ambassador manufactured by Hindustan Motors. I learned how to drive using his car in 2007.  Since then I have acquired an appreciation for sophisticated and luxurious cars. No cost will get in the way of pursuing  the car of my dreams. I currently drive a Suzuki Swift VDi. By the end of this year I hope to buy a Honda Accord. Since I don't like  automatic, I will seek one with a manual transmission. Oh yes, I have a bad habit of tooting my horn, but so does everyone else in India. In case the car doesn't fit into my new bungalow's garage - I will go for BMW 325d.

SOAM & PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is an art form I truly enjoy. My camera kit consists of Nikon S550 (Point & Shoot Type) and my favorite, CANON EOS 1000D (DSLR) and its kit. I take great shots with them. Although I'm not a professional, I consider myself a creative photographer. I enjoy taking composition photos and using creative lighting. I mostly do portrait photography and macro  shots. I plan to create a special section here on my website to showcase my photography skills.

SOAM & APPLE

Have you noted that I'm using a mac type background here on my website? I'm a true lover of Apple and MAC OSX. I  have a tight affinity for Apple and its products. Yes, that's right - since iTunes launched I've been hooked. Their best release is  the iPhone, Mac OSX and Macbook. I’m looking to have the new iPhone 3G S as soon as it comes to India. It has many cool features and upgrades over the 2G model. I have a Compaq A902 laptop. I rarely use my laptop. Soon I will replace  it with the Macbook Pro. Since I have started iPhone Application Development, I now need a iMAC. Then  I will go for the iMAC 24. Now I enjoy working on the iMac 30 virtually, for a client of mine, as a remote support for a in-house softwaret.

SOAM & HIS BUNGALOW

My new bungalow is nearly complete. I've done most of the work. No banks, no crews - just my labor.  The home has been designed by my father and my office by a Greek interior designer. I designed my bedroom.  Designs have been created using  Corel Draw. I will post photos soon. I am hopeful you will enjoy seeing the work which has been done. It's going to be a biggy. I’m also trying to pack in a small pool on my terrace. Please share your design ideas.  You can give it a shot. This is my Dad’s dream house and I’m going to make it happen very soon. Give me few a more months and there will be a new  photo gallery to view.

SOAM & MOVIES

I’m a movie freak. I download around 10-20 movies a month, even If I don’t have time to watch them. I mostly watch  flicks on weekends. My real heroes are Jason Statham and Idris Elba. My all time favorite movie is the Transporter Series. I haven’t missed any of their movies. I don’t have time to go to theatres, so I download Blueray movies and XVID movies from Rapidshare(have my personal Rapidshare Account) and watch them at my working room in my Sony Home Theatre. It is nice  watching in my own home including my Turbo Bass Boost.

SOAM & MUSIC

MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC. It's what it is all about for me. I have a complete 5.1 Surround Setup with a Sony DAV in my work room. I also have a complete Bluapunkt setup in my car with sub-woofer and 2-layered speakers. Looking to go for a JBL amplifier soon. I love HipHop and I only listen to Dr.Dre and SnoopDog series. My external HDD has around 380 GB of songs collection  - including Hindi songs, remixes, english Rap and HipHop archives, etc. I love to work with music.

SOAM & TRAVEL

Its true. I don't have a free moment for vacations or enjoy my weekends, but it's time for that to change. I've  have planned a US tour by the end of this year. I'm just waiting for my passport to arrive. The Orissa government hasn't been helpful. I've been waiting for 8 months now. As soon as I get it, I will book my air tickets. Then hope to visit my loved ones in areas of  Chicago, Florida, Branson, Virginia, Newyork, San Diego and California. I'm sure, its going to fill my whole 50 GB of remaining space in my external HDD.

CONTACT ME

The best way to get in touch with me is via SKYPE and EMAIL. Phone is also ok, but I hardly receive calls. I use a Blackberry Storm 9530 for my official use. I have a Nokia E63            (+91-9853090816) and a Nokia N95 (+91-9853790816) and a Beetel US phone (+1-619-534-8335). LOL! Dont call me for trivial reasons, as it is expensive.
